What is a Laborist?

St. Luke’s laborists bring an added level of safety and support for new mothers and their babies. Laborists are on site 24/7 in our Labor and Delivery unit to serve your immediate needs and answer questions regarding care.

Laborists at St. Luke’s are board certified OB/GYN physicians who are available to examine patients, evaluate the progress of labor, and provide a safe delivery. If an emergency with you or your baby occurs, the laborist is already on the scene, ready to respond with lifesaving intervention.

Many hospitals around the country are turning to laborists to enhance patient safety. All St. Luke’s Maternal Fetal Medicine patients are delivered by laborists. Laborists are available at St. Luke’s Boise and Meridian hospitals.
