Living and Working in McCall

McCall is a scenic mountain town located in central Idaho, approximately 100 miles north of Boise. This small town of fewer than 3,000 year-round residents provides all the best in mountain living with fresh air, breathtaking vistas, and recreation opportunities right out your front door. It’s a great place to live and work, and St. Luke’s is proud to be part of this close-knit, friendly community.

Best known for its water sports in the summer and snow sports in the winter, the McCall area truly is a four season paradise with outdoor fun for all tastes. At its center is beautiful Payette Lake, which provides stunning views whether you’re on Main Street or the back roads. In the summer, this pristine lake is dotted with boats of all kinds, stand-up paddle boarders, and lake cruisers, as well as swimmers and sun seekers enjoying the white sand beaches.

Each winter the community welcomes thousands for the annual Winter Carnival—famous for its snow sculptures. McCall is also home to Brundage Mountain Ski Resort, which receives an annual snowfall of about 300 inches, making it one of the best locations in the Pacific Northwest for powder hounds and beginners alike.

McCall is also known for its golf courses, biking and hiking trails, arts and culture, and dining. And it’s a great place to raise a family. The McCall-Donnelly High School received a five-star rating (the highest possible) from the Idaho Department of Education and was named as one of Newsweek magazine’s Best High Schools in America.

Healthy living is part of why many residents call McCall home, and St. Luke’s supports them in wellness and prevention as well as in treatment. St. Luke’s McCall is a 15-bed hospital with 24-hour physician emergency care, diagnostic imaging, maternity services, rehabilitation therapy, and more. We also offer onsite surgeons and other specialists, 3-D mammography, and innovative programs at the Center for Health promotion, which hold health classes, screenings, and events that draw around 5,000 participants of all ages each year.
