The St. Luke’s McCall Auxiliary awarded their Community Grants to seven local non-profits, for a total of $60,000 at their general membership meeting on Jan. 8.

The Auxiliary’s Community Grant program is funded entirely by proceeds from the St. Luke’s McCall Auxiliary Thrift Shop.

“It is a gratifying time of year for the Auxiliary and for those who work tirelessly at the Thrift Shop to be able to continue supporting programs that work to improve the health and wellness of our community members. We are grateful to the community for donating their used items to the Thrift Shop. The amount of donations the volunteers process through the Thrift Shop is truly amazing,” Auxiliary Grant Committee Chair Holly Thrash said.

Grants were awarded as follows:

  • $16,105: St. Luke’s McCall Compassion Fund, supports individuals with financial hardships due to serious illness.
  • $15,000: The Community Medical Fund, helps adults in need of medical, behavioral health, dental and vision care and medications.
  • $10,500: St. Luke’s McCall Dental – Brighter Smiles program, supports those 18 and older in need of dental care who would not be able to afford it otherwise.
  • $8,000: The Community Children’s Medical Fund, helps families with children in need of medical, behavioral health and dental care.
  • $8,000: Adams County Patient Assistance Foundation, supports under and uninsured individuals with medications, medical care, travel outside the area, durable medical equipment and more.
  • $1,395: Donnelly Rural Fire Protection District, support to purchase distraction kits for ambulances to aid in managing patient pain and anxiety with nonpharmacologic tools in the pre-hospital environment.
  • $1,000: Valley County Pickleball Club, to support purchase of an AED (automated external defibrillator) that will be available at the pickleball complex located in Lake Fork.

St. Luke’s McCall Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting St. Luke’s McCall Medical Center and improving the health and quality of life of people in the communities it serves. Since the grant program was formed in 2002, the auxiliary has awarded more than $1.5 million through their community grant program in support of community health initiatives. The auxiliary is always welcoming new members that would like to share their time, skills and passion to benefit our communities. For more information call (208) 634-2088.
