Gentle Restorative Yoga for People with Cancer & Cancer Survivors – In-Person

Description

This class offers deeply relaxing, restoring, and therapeutic exercises consisting of gentle, mindful movements, breathing techniques, essential oils, Reiki healing touch, and/or a nourishing body awareness meditation. Scientific studies show yoga provides many medical and psychological benefits, including:

All props are provided at class.

  • Tuesdays: 3:00pm – 4:15pm
  • Thursdays: 4:30pm – 5:45pm

Join us in-person every week. You must register for each class individually. You will be provided a total of 12 in-person classes at no cost. At the completion of 12 in-person classes, you may transition to the virtual class and attend as often as you would like.

Prerequisites

You must be a current St. Luke’s Cancer Institute patient that is undergoing treatment or has completed treatment within the last 2 years. 

This class is not open to the community as of right now. 

You must be 18 years of age or older, be at least 6 weeks post-surgery, and not have any drains or open wounds (excluding ostomies). 

You must be able to get to the floor and back to standing without assistance. You must complete a SLHS consent as well as a YMCA consent prior to your first class.

Registration Instructions

Registration is required for each individual class. 

12 in-person classes are provided and upon completion of 12 in-person classes, you may continue attending the virtual class option. 

Please wear comfortable clothing you can easily move around in. You are free to be barefoot or wear socks during class. 

If you need assistance getting to the class, your support person is free to wait in the waiting area. There is water, tea, and coffee available.
