The PKD Foundation has recognized St. Luke's commitment to care for people with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) along with improved understanding through research and community engagement.
PKD is a genetic disease (passed from an affected parent to their child) causing uncontrolled growth of cysts in the kidney eventually leading to kidney failure. St. Luke's is proud to provide the highest level of care to our patients.
Clinics with this recognition offer patient-focused, comprehensive care with the coordination and support of an integrated healthcare team; access to top PKD experts, leading research, clinical studies, and new therapies; and a network of nephrologists, specialists, and other providers for referrals, partnerships, and mentoring.
The American Heart Association (AHA) has awarded the Hypertension Practice Center Certification to St. Luke's Kidney and Hypertension Clinic in Meridian for its commitment to following research-based treatment guidelines when caring for people with complex or difficult-to-treat hypertension or high blood pressure. Certified practice centers are leaders in providing the most up-to-date and effective treatment strategies based on current evidence-based research in hypertension.
In earning this award, St. Luke's has shown that it is committed to focusing on treating complex hypertension and its co-morbidities, and that patients can be confident that they will receive the most effective and latest treatments. The AHA evaluated the policies, procedures, and operations to ensure that appropriate diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment protocols were in place and available to St. Luke's patients.
