Inclusion and Belonging

It Begins with You

At St. Luke’s, our mission is to improve the health of people in the communities we serve, and that means both our patients and our employees come to us from every walk of life. Our commitments begin with care, but also include sensitivity and compassion, and we believe that everyone should be treated respectfully, equitably and justly.

Additionally, St. Luke’s recognizes that social drivers can affect the health of our patients, community and employees, so we work to foster workplaces that embrace our unique strengths and experiences. Using our natural diversity helps us drive exceptional, patient-centered care, and together, we create environments that feed innovation and support our mission.

Above all, we listen to one another.

Everyone Means Everyone

Inclusion and belonging aren’t empty words. They’re ideas that shape our work at every stage of care.

We think of them like this:

  • Inclusion - We strive to create environments where we all feel welcome, respected, supported and valued. A workplace where everyone, regardless of our differences, can thrive and contribute is a crucial part of providing excellent care.
  • Belonging - When team members feel integral to the organization, work becomes more than a paycheck. It becomes a second home. We acknowledge every identity and contribution, because your place in our shared mission is as important as the work you do.

Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) provide opportunities for employees to build meaningful relationships, develop professionally, share perspectives and strengthen connections across the organization and within our communities.

ERGs are open to employees who identify with the communities represented as well as colleagues who want to learn and support others.

St. Luke’s employees celebrating Pride Month

Pride @ St. Luke’s (P@LS) is an employee-led community committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ employees, allies, and the patients and communities we serve.

P@LS creates opportunities for employees to connect, build community, learn from one another and help strengthen a culture where people feel valued and supported. By bringing together LGBTQIA+ employees and allies from across St. Luke’s, P@LS helps increase awareness, encourage meaningful dialogue and create stronger connections throughout our organization and communities.

Our goal is to help create an environment where employees can bring their authentic selves to work, build meaningful relationships and have opportunities to thrive personally and professionally.

P@LS advances its mission through four key areas:

  • Employee engagement, support and well-being
  • Community engagement and support
  • Advocacy and education
  • Visibility

Through connection, education, advocacy and community engagement, Pride @ St. Luke’s helps strengthen a culture where employees feel welcome, supported and empowered to contribute their best.
