Nathan Roach, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician who is also fellowship-trained in hospice and palliative medicine. His special interests include ambulatory palliative medicine, supportive oncology, and palliative medicine for medically-underserved populations.

  • The palliative care/hospice appt I had with Dr. Roach recently was above and beyond wonderful. Of all the fine doctors I’ve had in my life, Dr. Roach is the best at listening. His presence in the room is quiet and easy yet dignified, friendly, open, and calm. His steadiness and focus was consistent throughout the hour long appt. I have never felt more validated by any doctor than with Dr. Roach. His manner of dealing with serious, heavy topics is something that left a lasting impression on me. At NO time did I feel pressured or like he had an agenda for my life - never once did I feel like I owed it to him to do something other that what I wanted to do regarding my life. I’m in ESRD and not pursuing dialysis or transplantation. He respected my choice. His desire was to help me deal with my future. It’s been a long road and though a number of doctors I’ve had have told me what they believe is best and available with dialysis, etc, I finally feel free to pursue the remainder of my life with help from Dr. Roach and his team without pressure or feeling as if I’m making the wrong choice. I appreciate the doctors I’ve had in the past, but now have far more peace because I know they won’t bother me any more about dialysis and transplantation. It can be a long haul with some nephrologists, especially in dealing with kidney failure. If I could give Dr. Roach 10 stars I would. Many thanks to the St. Luke’s Hospital system for hiring him. He is a gift and grace to the community.

  • Dr. Roach is very attentive and encouraging. I never feel judged when we discuss the social, mentahousing l, and emotional aspects of chronic illness. Today’s visit was was a very positive one. Many of the resources that have been provided and cooperation with other providers has helped me to be successful in finding appropriate housing community with medical accessibility and safety as my conditions progress. His perspective and experience has really made a difference.
