Prior to her medical education, Dr. Walawender earned her bachelor's degree with high distinction in economics from the University of Michigan. Following her residency, she served for one year as chief resident while also working as a pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Walawender then practiced as a general pediatrician in a rural private practice for two years before returning to Nationwide Children's Hospital to complete her fellowship in pediatric nephrology.
In her free time, Dr. Walawender enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children.
