Healing touch is an energy-based approach to health and wellbeing. Providers use gentle touch to elicit the relaxation response.
The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the energy system placing the client in a better position to self-heal.
Healing Touch complements conventional health care. Based on published systematic reviews of energy therapies, Healing Touch was shown to be effective for decreasing pain, anxiety, fatigue and stress, and improving functioning and quality of life.
Professional and non-professional care providers can benefit in learning techniques to assist patients, loved ones and themselves. Clinical staff will be trained in a nonpharmacologic pain treatment modality to assist in meeting Joint Commission standards.
