Supporting Youth Mental Health
Make a Positive Impact
At St. Luke’s, we believe mental health is an important part of overall health. Supporting the well-being of children and adolescents requires more than just access to care. It also means creating communities where young people feel connected, supported and empowered to thrive.
Research from Communities for Youth provides valuable insight into the experiences of Idaho youth. Many young people report feeling disconnected from their peers, trusted adults and their communities. They also describe feeling significant pressure to achieve, often believing they need to excel in every area of life to be successful.
The good news is that each of us can play a role in helping address these challenges. By building strong relationships, showing up as trusted adults and helping young people navigate the pressures they face, we can foster a greater sense of connection, belonging and resilience.
To support these efforts, we have created a series of short videos that explore factors influencing youth mental health and well-being. These resources offer practical tools, insights and strategies to help strengthen protective factors, reduce risk and create supportive environments.
Creating an Empowered Community
A Trusted Adult
A caring, trusted adult can have a lasting impact on a young person’s well-being, and each of us has the opportunity to be that source of support.
Additional Ways to Help

Suicide Risk in Children and Adolescents
In Idaho, suicide is a leading cause of death among children, adolescents and young adults. It doesn’t have to be that way, if we can learn to talk about it.

Suicide Prevention, Emotional and Mental Health Support
Like many illnesses, prevention and early intervention can reduce the impact of mental health conditions. Symptoms of mental illness can often be painful and bewildering. But there is hope.
