Managing Pain, Improving Strength and Mobility
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints (the points where bones meet) in one or more areas of the body. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis, all with different causes and treatments. The most common form of arthritis in older adults is osteoarthritis.
When you have arthritis, simple, everyday movements can hurt. Using the stairs can be painful. Walking a few steps, opening a door, and even brushing your teeth can be hard.
If you’re experiencing difficulty with your joints, talk to your primary care provider about referral to a rheumatology or physical therapy specialist at St. Luke’s.
