Contrast-Enhanced Mammography
3D Digital Mammography with Contrasting Dye
Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM) combines 3D digital mammography with an intravenously administered contrast dye. This dye highlights abnormal blood flow patterns that may indicate the presence of cancer.
CEM is particularly valuable for evaluating dense breast tissue, where traditional mammography may miss tumors. It offers several advantages as a supplemental imaging tool, including:
- Improved cancer detection rates
- Clarification of suspicious findings seen on standard mammograms
- Assessment of cancer spread within the breast
CEM is also a suitable alternative for women who:
- Cannot undergo a breast MRI
- Have dense breast tissue
