Inpatient Rehabilitation
Rebuilding Strength, Restoring Independence
When an illness or injury occurs, your life can be changed in ways that seem difficult to overcome. St. Luke's has a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation experts to support your recovery in the inpatient setting after a medical event, illness, injury or disorder diagnosis. We work hand-in-hand with your doctors to help you be as independent as possible and safely return to your home and community.
Our three categories of inpatient rehabilitation services include:
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation: intensive therapy for patients requiring multiple types of therapy each day (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy)
- Swing beds: under certain circumstances, our smaller hospitals are able to accommodate inpatient rehabilitation in a medical/surgical care unit; these are called "swing beds" because the type of care provided shifts as appropriate, depending on the patient's needs
- Long-term care: rehabilitation therapy and support for residents living at our Medicare-certified, skilled nursing facility in Mountain Home
Your rehabilitation plan will be managed by a team that meets regularly to provide you with the best care. Your family will also be included to ensure that you and everyone involved in your care will feel confident in supporting your rehabilitation.

CARF accreditation
Recognized for Excellence
Our comprehensive inpatient programs in the Treasure Valley and Magic Valley are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). St. Luke's Outpatient Brain Injury programs in Boise and Meridian are also CARF accredited. This means these programs are striving to meet the highest standards of care nationally.
In order to maintain our CARF accreditation, we must regularly share our patient outcomes as they compare to national benchmarks.
