Families Leading the Way
At St. Luke’s, our support of the NICU Family Advisory Council reflects our deep commitment to family-centered care. We believe families play an essential role in the health and healing of their babies, and we’re dedicated to including them in every step of the care journey.
Many parents and family members who’ve experienced the NICU firsthand want to give back—offering support, insight, and compassion to others. These dedicated individuals make up our Family Advisory Council.
If you’re passionate about making a difference for children and families, we invite you to get involved. Council members participate in monthly meetings and activities, and we welcome families from across our region. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can join us by phone from the comfort of your home.
Our Goals
- To impact policies and the St. Luke's NICU environment to reflect the wants and needs of families
- To promote family members on other St. Luke's committees to enhance care
- To improve staff awareness of family needs
- To continue providing a mechanism for feedback for families
- To acknowledge the needs of families from other areas in the region
- To share resources with families for care after their baby leaves the NICU
- To achieve continuity of care between the NICU and other units within St. Luke's
- To facilitate communication between care providers and families
- To optimize patient safety
