Teen Pathways Driving Program
Is Your Teen Ready to Drive?
Adolescent IADL Pre-Driving Program
This occupational therapy program supports adolescents (ages 15–21) in building life skills that promote safe decision-making and independence. It focuses on functional and cognitive skills needed before learning to drive or expanding community mobility (e.g., ride share, public transit).
Our team will conduct an evaluation to help identify where the patient is currently functioning related to instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) or complex life skills that often start in early adulthood. Therapy, if recommended, then helps the patient work on a plan on how to incrementally develop these life skills that support safe decision-making and independence. For driving, these skills include safety awareness, attention span, reaction time, judgment and insight.
