Undescended Testicle Care
Helping Your Child Thrive
During pregnancy, a baby boy’s testicles begin developing in the abdomen. As he grows, they typically move down into the scrotum before birth. When one or both testicles do not descend as expected, the condition is known as an undescended testicle. This is more common in babies born prematurely or with low birth weight.
In many cases, the testicle will descend naturally within the first few months of life. If it hasn’t by six months, your child’s doctor may recommend surgery—usually performed between 9 and 15 months of age.
If surgery is needed, you can trust the pediatric urology team at St. Luke’s to provide expert, compassionate care. Our specialists are highly trained in diagnosing and treating undescended testicles and other complex urologic conditions in children. With advanced surgical techniques—including minimally invasive and robotic options—St. Luke’s pediatric urologists focus on reducing pain, speeding recovery, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for your child.
