Support That Meets You Where You Are

Obesity is a chronic, progressive, and relapsing—but treatable—disease. In the past two decades, the obesity rate in the U.S. has risen from 30% to 42%, and it's projected to exceed 50% by 2030. While the numbers are alarming, change is possible.

At St. Luke’s Obesity and Metabolic Program, we understand that no two journeys are the same. Our team takes a personalized, non-surgical approach to treatment, tailored to your unique needs and goals. If we determine together that surgery may be an appropriate option for you, we’ll guide you to a trusted St. Luke’s bariatric surgeon.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call our team at (208) 381-3915.

We'll review your current eating habits and help you construct a nutrition plan that works with your lifestyle and supports your health goals.

Based on your individual ability to exercise, we'll help you slowly work up to an optimum level of activity that will allow you to reach your goals.

    Medication

We'll review your current medications and identify if any of your current medications can contribute to weight gain. We'll also review if anti-obesity medications may be right for you and your treatment plan.

  • Behavioral Health

We'll assess if stress, depression or other mental health issues may be impacting your ability to reach your goals. We'll also examine your sleep habits, which contribute to your overall health and our ability to successfully treat obesity.

What to Expect

    Your First Visit (45-60 minutes)

We'll start by discussing your journey with obesity. Next, you'll be asked to do some homework prior to your next visit: track your food intake for 2-3 weeks, get metabolic lab work, and complete health questionnaires about your goals.

  • man taking his blood pressure

    Your Second Visit (45 minutes)

We'll review your homework and begin developing an individualized nutrition and physical activity plan. We'll also start discussing potential medications, sleep hygiene, and stress reduction techniques.

  • man on treadmill

    Follow-up Visits (30 minutes)

Follow-up visits generally occur once every four weeks. At these visits, we'll monitor your progress and partner with you to decide if any adjustments may be necessary. We'll also track your response to anti-obesity medications, if applicable.
