Earl Gage, MD is a pediatric plastic surgeon who cares for children with cleft lip and palate, Pierre Robin Sequence, craniosynostosis including complex Apert, Crouzon and Pfeiffer syndromes, congenital ear problems including microtia and prominent ears, hemifacial microsomia, congenital macroglossia due to Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome and other craniofacial problems including orthognathic (jaw surgery).
Dr. Gage has treated patients with complex craniofacial syndromes from across the country and abroad. With his focal craniofacial expertise as well as the broad reconstructive experience gained in his general plastic surgery training, Dr. Gage is uniquely suited to care for children and adults with complex plastic and reconstructive surgery needs.
Dr. Gage has also published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals on topics ranging from HIV research to pediatric and adult plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has also written several book chapters for plastic surgery textbooks and has given multiple lectures at national and international professional meetings. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in plastic surgery.
In addition to his commitment to advancing patient care, Dr. Gage also feels strongly about giving back through volunteerism and community service. As a youth, he was an active participant in Scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. From there, Dr. Gage went on to serve a two-year faith-based mission in Italy. He has also been a volunteer with the Utah Special Olympics, has helped to coach numerous youth baseball and soccer teams, and travels annually to South America where he participates in medical mission work.
When not at work, Dr. Gage has a busy home life with his wife and family. He enjoys singing in a barbershop chorus, running, carpentry and home remodeling. He also recently accomplished a lifelong dream of earning his pilot's license.
Dr. Gage is now pleased to join forces with Dr. Russell Griffiths as co-director of the Idaho Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Institute. Dr. Gage looks forward to continuing to provide exceptional, personalized pediatric cleft and craniofacial care to patients in Boise and throughout the mountain west.
