Greg Irvine, MD retired from surgery and emergency care on April 1, 2022. Today, he occasionally assists and mentors other surgeons in the operating room.
Originally from northern Michigan, Dr. Irvine was part of the Inteflex Combined Pre-medical/Medical School Program's first class at the University of Michigan, where he also completed his general surgery residency. He joined the orthopedic surgery faculty as an assistant professor of surgery. He also served as the attending surgeon at Wayne County General Hospital and the co-director of sports medicine at University Hospital.
He was soon recruited to join a busy trauma and joint replacement practice at the Portland Orthopedic Clinic. He also led the level I orthopedic trauma service at Emanuel Hospital. During this time, he served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, holding that position for more than twenty years.
While on vacation in McCall, looking at possible retirement destinations, he thought McCall could use an orthopedic surgeon, considering the ample year-round recreation opportunities nearby.
In 2011, Dr. Irvine began practicing at St. Luke’s McCall. Through his leadership and collaboration with local leadership, a comprehensive orthopedic surgical program was developed, most notably a robust total joint replacement program that serves patients throughout the area.
