About Devin L. Merritt

Biography

Devin Merritt, PhD has clinical interests in treating chronic pain, improving sleep, working with individuals who suffer from PTSD, and treating other anxiety and mood disorders. He follows evidence-based treatments using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for chronic pain and is also a certified instructor for Empowered Relief, a class-based approach to assist individuals with chronic pain to live better. 

Dr. Merritt was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Brigham Young University - Idaho, his master's degree in counseling and guidance from Louisiana Tech University, and his PhD in counseling psychology, also from Louisiana Tech.

Following graduate school, Dr. Merritt was accepted into the Clinical Psychology Residency Training Program at Lackland Air Force Base. He commissioned into the United States Air Force and was on active-duty status. While in the Air Force, he developed an interest in clinical health psychology and in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related issues. He has been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), both of which are evidence-based treatments for trauma.

In his free time, Dr. Merritt enjoys all that Idaho has to offer, being out-of-doors, spending time with family, and enjoying Idaho's beautiful scenery.
