Certified Genetic Counselor
Allison Szczepanski, MS, CGC provides genetic counseling for individuals and families prior to conception, at any point during pregnancy, and after the conclusion of pregnancy regarding reproductive risk for genetic conditions and birth differences. She is board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the States of Idaho and Oregon.
Allison is dedicated to ensuring every patient full comprehends their pregnancy’s diagnosis or risk, even in the context of complex medical situations. She enjoys getting to know her patients and learning more about their personal goals and wishes for their families. She is committed to ensuring patients have access to any and all treatment and management options they may need during their pregnancies.
As a way to facilitate patient access to genetic information in the Treasure Valley and beyond, Allison spends time educating other local health care professionals about guidelines pertaining to genetic testing in individuals of reproductive age as well as standard of care for genetic screening in pregnancies. Allison is especially passionate about preconception genetic counseling and providing information to patients prior to pregnancy.
Prior to attending the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program, Allison earned her bachelor’s degree in microbiology and immunology with minors in genetics and psychology from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
Away from work, Allison enjoys yoga, mountain biking, road cycling, traveling, and spending time with her family in the outdoors.
