Community members around McCall have a new option to fill and pick up prescription medications. A medication locker has opened at St. Luke’s Clinic – Payette Lakes Family Medicine, located at 211 Forest Street.
“With the continued growth in our service area, we identified a need to increase pharmacy services to serve our patients and the community,” St. Luke’s McCall Chief Operating and Nursing Officer Amber Green said. “We have a great working relationship and respect for the current pharmacies in the area. St. Luke’s objective is to help fill an identified gap and increase capacity of this important service.”
St. Luke’s is committed to increasing access to health care services — prescription medications in this case. St. Luke’s recently launched a pharmacy locker at a Meridian WinCo store, and pharmacy lockers for St. Luke’s employees are also available in Boise and the Magic Valley.
The St. Luke’s Meridian Outpatient Pharmacy will fulfill prescription orders and after preparation, they will be couriered daily Monday through Saturday to the St. Luke’s McCall Inpatient Pharmacy team for loading into the new state-of-the-art medication locker.
Prescriptions can then be picked up during regular clinic business hours: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the lobby at St. Luke’s Clinic – Payette Lakes Family Medicine.
St. Luke's medication lockers are secure, free-standing, contactless pickup locations offering patients a convenient way to retrieve new prescriptions and refills. Most medications, including medications that require refrigeration, can be retrieved from the lockers, except for controlled substances.
There are steps patients will need to take, depending on their prescription needs. Patients can order prescriptions by logging in to their St. Luke’s MyChart account from their phone or smart device and selecting St. Luke’s Medication Locker McCall – Payette Lakes Family Medicine Clinic as their preferred pharmacy. Patients can also sign up for a MyChart account. Patients wanting to transfer existing prescriptions, or get more information and support, will need to call the St. Luke's Meridian Outpatient Pharmacy directly at (208) 706-5252.
You do not need to be a St. Luke’s patient to use the new medication locker. Providers ordering prescriptions who aren’t affiliated with St. Luke’s can request the prescription be filled at the St. Luke's Meridian Outpatient Pharmacy, then call to phamacy to request that the prescription be delivered to the McCall medication locker.
Once a patient is enrolled in MyChart and a prescription fill request has been made, patients will be notified via email and text when the St. Luke's Meridian Outpatient Pharmacy is preparing prescriptions and once again when the medications are ready for pickup. A pharmacist will contact the patient prior to shipment to discuss the medications and any questions. Most prescriptions will be filled within one to two days.
Upon delivery, a one-time code will be issued to the patient’s phone or email. When at the medication locker, the patient or person picking up the prescription can enter the code or scan their unique QR code, confirm the patient’s date of birth and the appropriate locker door will open for retrieval of medications.
To begin, patients will be billed directly following insurance processing. At a future date, a credit card reader will be installed that will allow patients to pay for prescriptions at the time of pickup.
Once the McCall hospital expansion is complete, projected for early summer, the medication locker will be moved to the main lobby, creating the opportunity to pick up prescriptions any time of day, seven days a week.
