St. Luke’s Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program prepares individuals to meet people with compassion and competence in life’s most difficult moments. Staff chaplains from St. Luke’s Spiritual Care team mentor residents through practice, reflection, study and peer learning. Residents step into real-time ministry in our hospitals and other care settings offering spiritual and emotional support while discovering their own pastoral identity. CPE is more than training; it’s a transformative journey.

Begin Your Ministry Journey Today

The CPE program is a paid one-year residency that begins in the Fall. Positions are posted through St. Luke’s Careers during the summer months. 

St. Luke’s partners with the Institute for Clinical Pastoral Education (ICPT) to offer 4 units of CPE (12-weeks per unit) which are accepted by the Spiritual Care Association. ICPT is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education (ACCET), a U.S. Department of Education Accrediting Agency.
