Head and Neck Cancer

Trusted Experts to Support Your Cancer Journey

Head and neck cancers can affect several areas in the upper part of the body, including the sinuses, nasal passages, mouth, tongue, salivary glands, throat (pharynx), and voice box (larynx). These cancers often begin in the cells lining these areas and may be referred to by the specific location they impact—such as oral cavity, oropharynx, or larynx.

It’s important to note that while cancers of the brain, eyes, thyroid, esophagus, and the skin, muscles, or bones of the head and neck region occur nearby, they are typically classified and treated differently from head and neck cancers.

The team at St. Luke's Cancer Institute treats head and neck cancers with chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or a combination of these treatment options. We will work with you and your primary care provider to create a personalized care plan that will treat your cancer, ease your symptoms and side effects, and strengthen you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

If you’re a candidate for surgery, our oncologists work closely with ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeons to ensure coordinated care.
