Mikaela Overton, PhD is a clinical child psychologist with specialization in the assessment of children with neurodevelopmental and trauma-and stressor-related disorders. She is a member of a multidisciplinary autism diagnostic team and often works with children and adolescents within the foster care system who may have experienced abuse and neglect.
Dr. Overton is a Within Agency Trainer and certified therapist in parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), a parent management training intervention developed for young children with disruptive behaviors. She is currently training other providers within the St. Luke’s system to provide PCIT to families within our community.
Dr. Overton earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (child emphasis) at Central Michigan University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Her internship and fellowship provided advanced specialty education and training in the assessment and treatment of traumatized children and families.
