Idaho's population is active, and St. Luke's is proud to support a wide variety of community events that bring people together in the spirit of personal growth and competition. From running and cycling races with thousands of participants to tournaments hosting teams from within our region and beyond, you'll find St. Luke's Sports Medicine athletic trainers close by caring for athletes. Our team supports all ages and abilities, ensuring that everyone can compete knowing that a top-quality health care team is ready to respond whenever needed.
Typically, we set up medical stations that serve as St. Luke's Sports Medicine headquarters for injured athletes at each event. In addition, we often set up first aid stations for general medical assistance for spectators and event staff/volunteers. Care is provided for the duration of the event, with athletic trainers (and sometimes physicians) ready to assist anyone that stop by with a need. Athletic training staff is prepared with emergency action plans and are in communication with event staff and emergency responders to assist athletes, or anyone else in need of assistance, during an event. If advanced care is needed, we are ready to facilitate follow-up care or immediate transport to an advanced care facility or hospital.
More than anything, the team at St. Luke's Sports Medicine is inspired by the drive and passion of each and every participant. We enjoy doing our part on the field, court, race course, and sidelines, helping athletes perform at their best, knowing there's a team committed their safety and the safety of everyone around them.
