Planned Giving Donor Stories

Topic Contents:

Art and Becky

In 2019, Art and Becky Hastings were the first to commit an estate plan gift to the new St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Nampa, where Becky received treatment for lung cancer. With this gift, they had the opportunity to name a St. Luke’s space. The couple chose to add their names to the radiation vault waiting area, and named the atrium “Becky’s Garden.”

After Becky passed away in 2021, Art kept giving back. He made wooden gazebos and donated the proceeds back to the St. Luke's Cancer Institute in Nampa. Art also gave each staff member a water bottle, which he hand-delivered as a thank you for the love and care they showed to Becky.

Art died in November 2023. He thought about St. Luke’s to the end, leaving an additional portion of his estate to St. Luke's in his will. Art and Becky will forever be a part of the Nampa clinic’s family—and their legacy will live on in support of patients for years to come.
