Planned Giving Donor Stories

Carrie

In April 2023, Carrie began treatment for lymphoma under the care of Clinton Morgan, MD, at St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Nampa. When Carrie’s cancer progressed, her care moved to St. Luke's Cancer Institute in Boise, where she could receive chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy as part of her treatment plan with Travis Williams, DO. She was also enrolled in one of St. Luke’s first CAR T-cell therapy research trials. As the 16th patient to receive CAR T-cell therapy at St. Luke's, Carrie coined herself “Sweet 16.”

Carrie’s best friend and the executor of her estate, Patty, said Carrie loved the staff members at St. Luke’s, and felt like they were her family. In early November, just weeks before her death, Carrie named St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Nampa as a beneficiary in her will. Her legacy gift of approximately $165,000 honors the care she received and the special relationships she cherished.
